Reimagining TET gifting through a contemporary design system
TET gifts are often created around a single moment — carefully wrapped, exchanged and enjoyed as a new year begins.
For The New Leaders, the TET Gift Box 2026 was designed to carry meaning beyond that moment. Bringing together tools and objects inspired by emotional intelligence, leadership and personal growth, the collection was created to remain relevant long after the box was opened.
For NEWNOW, the challenge was to give this idea a clear and cohesive visual expression — one that felt rooted in TET while moving beyond familiar seasonal gifting conventions.
The result is a contemporary design system spanning packaging, editorial design, illustration, colour and tactile elements across the collection.
DESIGNING A NEW TET LANGUAGE
The starting point was finding the right balance between cultural familiarity and contemporary expression.
Rather than relying on conventional TET imagery, the visual language takes a more understated approach. Natural kraft paper forms the foundation, bringing warmth and tactility to the packaging, while a vibrant palette of red, orange, yellow, green and blue adds energy and a sense of celebration.
Floral and botanical illustrations create a subtle connection to TET, reinterpreted through a more expressive and graphic treatment rather than traditional decorative motifs.
Together, these elements create a visual identity that feels festive without being conventional, and contemporary without losing its cultural character.
BUILDING A COHESIVE DESIGN SYSTEM
The Gift Box brings together a diverse range of formats — from the main packaging and handbook to the EQ Calendar, Vision Craft illustrations, Fortune Cookies and Motivation Cards.
The challenge was to make these different pieces feel part of the same collection without simply repeating one design across every format.
NEWNOW developed a shared visual language through colour, typography, illustration style and graphic elements, while giving each touchpoint its own composition and personality.
The result is a system that feels connected, yet never repetitive.
DESIGNING EACH TOUCHPOINT
Each component was designed with its own role and character within the overall system.
The EQ Calendar uses colour and graphic composition to turn an everyday workplace object into a visual reminder that stays present throughout the year.
The Head–Heart–Hand Handbook takes a structured editorial approach, using typography, hierarchy and spacing to make the content intuitive to navigate and easy to engage with.
For Vision Craft, twelve EQ themes are brought to life through expressive illustrations, giving abstract ideas a more accessible and engaging visual form.
Meanwhile, Fortune Cookies and Motivation Cards introduce a lighter, more personal dimension to the collection. Compact formats and playful graphic details create small moments of surprise, interaction and connection.
While each touchpoint serves a different purpose, they remain united by the same visual language.
BALANCING STRUCTURE AND EXPRESSION
A key part of the design direction was finding the right balance between structure and spontaneity.
The system is grounded in clear typography, graphic hierarchy and consistent colour relationships. Against this structure, expressive illustrations, handwritten details and tactile materials bring a more human quality to the experience.
This contrast keeps the collection from feeling either overly corporate or overly decorative.
Instead, the design feels considered yet approachable — reflecting the balance between clarity and emotion at the heart of the project's subject matter.
A GIFT THAT STAYS
TET Gift Box 2026 was a project NEWNOW was proud to create alongside The New Leaders, taking on the role of Design Partner to shape a contemporary visual language for the collection.
From packaging, typography and illustration to tactile details, every element was designed to balance the spirit of TET, contemporary aesthetics and everyday usability.
